I have recently had to upgrade my hard drive after a total failure. No biggy works great now. I have formatted and rebooted the system with the operating system disc provided at purchase which was OS X 10.6.4 but am now having trouble getting the system to update it back to the current operating system. I select the system update section and it finds the information, then downloads it and then tells me the computer needs to reboot, but it just stops at the main screen (ie the background screen) and wont go any further, I thought it must be trying to load something so left it for a while and still nothing. I have hard rebooted the computer and now not sure what to do to update the system.
I have tried time machine with my old backup but it doesn't work, I'm not too concerned about reinstalling the backup as I will just pull down the files I need, when the time comes.
What do I need to do?
